Universal Wolf appoints Tim Rutter as MD to drive growth of metal fabrication business

Blyth, Northumberland, UK, 20th of January 2022 – Universal Wolf, leaders in complex metal fabrication, today announces the appointment of Tim Rutter as new Managing Director. Tim joins Universal Wolf at a hugely exciting time for the business as it looks to continue its growth. The appointment provides Universal Wolf with significant leadership experience from Rail, Defence, Offshore and General Engineering sectors.

Tim joins from Hitachi Rail where as Plant Manager at Newton Aycliffe (NAY) he oversaw data digitalisation enabling significant improvements in delivery output rate, increasing efficiency and productivity. Prior to this Tim worked as Business Director for Manufacturing Services for a northeast family owned firm. He held early engineering roles with the MoD and then at BAE Systems progressing from Engineering Undergraduate to Senior Management roles within the BAE Systems Vehicles business.

Tim is a Chartered Mechanical Engineer who has worked in manufacturing leadership roles in Rail, Defence, Offshore and General Engineering sectors for over 15 years. He brings significant expertise in building & developing teams and Digital transformation in manufacturing. Tim has spent his career to date with northeast manufacturing organisations, all of which involved fabrication, machining and mechanical engineering.
