ISO 9001, EN 3834-2, and DIN 2303: The Certification Stack That Qualifies You for Defence Fabrication Contracts

10 August 2026

At Universal Wolf, we’re proud to hold key certifications that help show our customers they’re working with a trusted, capable and reliable manufacturing partner for Defence fabrication.

Our key certifications and what they mean for our customers?

  • ISO 9001 – a globally recognised standard for Quality Management System (QMS). ISO 9001 gives customers confidence as it is the recognised standard in quality assurance, maintaining robust processes and records throughout the organisation to ensure compliance and governance.

Universal Wolf has held the ISO 9001 2015 for defence fabrication certification for several years and we are meticulous in our processes. This certification is renewed every 3 years to ensure compliance with the standard.

ISO9001 is the standard that delivers value across industries, sectors, and organization sizes. Manufacturers reduce defects by 30–50% 9001Simplified.com

  • EN 3834-2 – an international standard of quality requirements for the welding of metallic materials across the shopfloor. This standard gives customers confidence that our welding processes are carefully controlled, properly documented and delivered to a recognised quality standard. It helps show that we have the right people, procedures and checks in place to support complex, high-quality fabrication work.

We understand how essential precision and traceability are in the Defence sector, and we’re proud to offer this reassurance to customers via our EN 3834-2 standard

  • DIN 2303 BK1 – a German standard typically used in Defence to define requirements for welding on military products. This standard gives customers confidence that we meet the specialist welding requirements needed for defence applications. Only 5 UK subcontractors have achieved the DIN 2303 BKI1 standard, and Universal Wolf is one of them.
